Basma Adams is a registered nurse and PhD candidate with a professional background spanning pediatric critical care, bedside and outpatient clinical practice, clinical education, and the diabetes technology industry. She currently serves as a Manager of Clinical Education at Dexcom, where her work sits at the intersection of clinical evidence, diabetes technology, and healthcare professional education.

Living with type 1 diabetes since 2001, Basma brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work in diabetes care and education. She has contributed to diabetes advocacy through national advocacy, public speaking, speechwriting, and digital engagement, experiences that continue to shape her commitment to elevating the perspectives of people living with diabetes.

As a nurse scientist, Basma’s research interests center on diabetes distress and the psychosocial dimensions of diabetes technology use, examining how these experiences can inform more person-centered approaches to research, education, and clinical care. Her work reflects a broader interest in understanding not only how advances in diabetes technology influence clinical care, but also how they are experienced by the people who use them.

Across her clinical, research, and educational work, Basma is passionate about translating complex scientific evidence and advances in diabetes technology into meaningful, practical education for healthcare professionals, while bringing together the perspectives of clinician, researcher, educator, advocate, and person living with diabetes.
